José Martinez, evangelist

A businessman from Valencia, Spain, José Martinez learned about Global Evangelism at an Adventist-Laymen's Services and Industries convention and decided to accept the challenge to share his talents through evangelism. Although his business experience a serious downturn he determined to go ahead and make plans to go to Mexico to conduct a series of meetings in January 2003.

But during the last two weeks before making the journey, his company experienced a business increase equivalent to three normal months. In his first evangelistic series he could see God working on the people who heard the gospel as they responded to the invitation to yield their lives to Christ.

Among those who responded were several couples who had lived together but were never married, one couple for as long as 27 years and had six children. Two days before the mass baptism on Jan. 25, a judge came to the church and performed several weddings.

On the final day of the evangelistic series scores of candidates from the Atasta church gathered with Martinez for a large convocation and mass baptism

By the final week of the meetings Martinez was conducting two meetings each evening

Pathfinders assisted with coordinating crowds each evening.
