Barbara Hales,

evangelist

When Barbara Hales, New Carlisle, Ind., first saw an advertisement by The Quiet Hour ministry for Global Evangelism, she determined to become involved. So in 2001 she launched out by herself and conducted a series of meetings in the Dominican Republic. Because the experience was so rewarding, she vowed to do one evangelistic series every year. She heard about and applied to be part of a Global-Evangelism campaign so her next series was in Rwanda in 2002.

Mrs. Hales' third series was in Nacajuca about an hour's drive from Villahermosa, Mexico in January 2003.

Meetings were held in a rented hall with a large contingent of local church members providing assistance

When her husband, Don, retired last year, she asked him to come with her for her next series and asked him to choose the location. His decision: Mexico.

At each meeting Don set up his  computer and projected the illustrations while Barbara presented the sermon.

Barbara's greatest reward was seeing a large number of people respond to the invitation to commit their lives to Jesus and be baptized in a lake at the convention center in Villahermosa Jan. 25.

At the closing convocation for the Villahermosa area Global Evangelism meetings each of the evangelists and their translators were recognized. In appreciation for their work each evangelist received a Villahermosa doll.
