Orientation City: Mumbai

Overview:

NEW:  Orientation for the March 28 to April 12 campaigns will take place in Mumbai beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2003. Guest Evangelists should arrive in Mumbai no later than Tuesday, March 25.  Most international flights arrive around midnight. You may choose to arrive midnight Monday or Tuesday night.  The orientation will conclude about 4:00 pm on Wednesday afternoon.  Please keep this in mind when you arrange for your continuing travel to your campaign city.

Visa (NEW):  Contrary to the previous information, the Southern Asia Division and Mrs. Diana Jo Beeler (at the General Conference), both recommend that those who go to India to speak for campaigns should apply for a business visa through the General Conference.

A message from the South Kerala Section Secretary Elder Benny Joseph: Preparation plans are to assign five teams of two for each center for 100 days prior to the evangelistic campaigns.  These teams will work distributing tracts, enroling people in Bible study programs, facilitating group Bible study programs, preparing banners, posters, and handbills to invite the public to attend the evangelistic meetings in each of the centers listed below.  Follow up plans are to assign selected teams to nurture new members, continue Bible studies with new contacts, conduct a four day convention to continue reaping. Finally, to continue house visitation programs and cottage meetings.

A Message from Elder Varghese: Beginning 3 months before the scheduled campaigns, we plan to involve two teams for each center, they will put on health seminars, stop-smoking programs, temperance seminars, group Bible studies, branch Sabbath-school programs, cottage meetings and youth programs.  These preparations will be followed by radio  and newspaper adds inviting people to come to the meetings.  Follow up plans  include revival meetings in each center, Daniel and Revelation seminars, Wellness institutes, and spirit filled worship programs.  It is our prayer that the Lord will lead out and bless in these efforts.

A message from Elder Khandagale:  This territory is very safe for evangelism, with receptive villages.  It's one of the fastest growing regions in India with 32,000 members. After an initial survey of each center, teams will begin to enter the respective settlements and villages.  Interested people will be prepared in these centers in advance of the campaigns. Follow up will begin with "Victory Day" celebreations where new believers are baptised and welcomed into the church.  5 volunteers are planned for each village to carry on a year long program around each center.  Constant prayer is necessary, and some fund raising is planed so the targets and goals already set can be accomplished..

A Special Message from Elder Chelvaraju: North Karnataka Region is the oldest Adventist region in Southern Asia. The centers targeted for evangelism below are called Lambani Thandas. The people are very close and loyal to the Nayak or leader, and willingly follow his instruction and counsel.  We have made important contacts with each Nayak.  Preparations for these campaigns will be ongoing for about a year.  The leaders (Nayak) have accepted us, and are very friendly to our message.  We continue to work and pray for the Lord's leading and blessing as we continue working in this field.

A Message from Elder Mohan Rao: The West India Section currently has 214 congregations, and 55,600 members.  Preparation for these centers will be done beginning with field surveys by our working force and local section leaders. Teams will do ground work in each area for 15 days leading up to the campaigns, and many contacts will be made, materials will be handed out, and people will be invited to attend.  Follow up is planned for 2 years following the campaigns, beginning with a bible worker assigned to each center.  Plan to build a church for each congregation as funds become available.

Southeast Andhra Region

A Message from Pr Wilbert: This region was organized just ONE year ago, with 3500 members. Now there are 23,000 members! Currently there are 12 pastors (including 5 ordained pastors) working in this region with the help of 18 Bible workers and 100 Global Mission Pioneers. Some of these workers are already living and working in the following five centers, giving Bible studies, visiting homes, destributing free liture, conducting night meetings all in preparation for the upcoming meetings listed below so that many will be ready to make decisions for Christ. Following the meetings, teams of volunteers will continue to live and work in these centers for another 15 days strengthening the new members, and continuing to work with people there.  Bible workers will then be placed to carry on the work. They will live and work in the centers. As soon as feasible, we plan to construct a church in each center.
